Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

ncountr ("we," "us," or "our") operates a Black-centered GBTQ+ social, dating, nightlife, and community platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ncountr, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of ncountr, and information from third-party services that help us operate the platform.

Account information

When you create an account - whether anonymous or registered - we collect identifiers such as your user ID, account type, email address (for registered accounts), and authentication credentials managed through Firebase Authentication.

Profile data

Profile information may include your display name, username, bio, photos, date of birth (used for age verification), gender identity, pronouns, sexual orientation, relationship status, interests, preferences, and visibility settings. You control much of what appears on your profile through in-app privacy controls.

Location information

With your permission, we collect precise or approximate location data to power map features, distance calculations, and local discovery. You may adjust location sharing through your device settings and ncountr visibility preferences. We store both your true location and a display location that may be fuzzed for privacy.

Device information

We automatically collect device and browser information, including device type, operating system, browser type, language settings, IP address, and mobile identifiers where applicable. This helps us secure accounts, prevent abuse, and improve compatibility.

Usage data

We collect information about how you interact with ncountr, including pages viewed, features used, messages sent, forum activity, reports submitted, search queries, and timestamps of activity. We use this data to operate features, improve the product, and maintain community safety.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Matchmaking and discovery: To show you nearby profiles, suggest connections, and personalize your experience based on your preferences and activity.
  • Platform operation: To authenticate users, deliver messages, host forums, process subscriptions, and provide customer support.
  • Safety and moderation: To detect and address harassment, fraud, impersonation, illegal content, and other violations of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. This includes automated and human review of reported content, and use of third-party moderation tools including OpenAI for content classification and safety analysis.
  • Analytics and improvement: To understand how ncountr is used, measure feature performance, fix bugs, and develop new functionality.
  • Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our agreements.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

Service providers

We work with trusted vendors who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information. These include:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and hosting infrastructure.
  • Wasabi: Secure media storage for profile photos, messages, and other user-uploaded content.
  • Mapbox: Map rendering and location-based features.
  • Stripe: Payment processing for premium subscriptions.
  • OpenAI: Automated content moderation and safety analysis.

Law enforcement and legal requests

We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to enforce our Terms and policies.

With your consent

We may share information with third parties when you direct us to do so or provide explicit consent, such as when you choose to share profile information with other users through in-app features.

4. Cookies & Similar Technologies

ncountr uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand usage patterns, and improve security. Essential cookies are required for core functionality such as authentication. Analytics cookies help us measure performance and may be disabled through your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly without them.

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using certain parts of ncountr.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

  • Profile and account data are retained while your account exists and for a limited period after deletion to support recovery requests and legal compliance.
  • Messages and forum posts may be retained in backup systems for a limited time after deletion.
  • Moderation records, safety reports, and audit logs may be retained longer where necessary to protect the community and meet legal requirements.

You may request account deletion through in-app settings. Upon verified deletion, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate safety purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete information through your profile settings or by contacting us.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of certain data you have provided.
  • Opt-out: Opt out of certain processing, such as marketing communications or non-essential analytics, where applicable.

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@ncountr.app. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests.

8. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), access controls, and Firebase Security Rules that restrict database access based on authentication and authorization policies.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@ncountr.app.

9. Children's Privacy

ncountr is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will take steps to delete that information and terminate the associated account promptly.

If you believe a user under 18 is on ncountr, please report them through the in-app reporting tools or contact safety@ncountr.app.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through in-app notice or email. Your continued use of ncountr after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
